Challenge

The challenge was to use an existing MUJI product and reinterpret it through the idea of jugaad—finding a practical, creative way the product could be adapted for everyday life without losing MUJI’s minimal design language.

Insight

Mumbai runs on efficiency and improvisation. Systems like the dabbawala network thrive not because of complex tools, but because simple, reliable objects are used in smart, flexible ways to solve real problems.

Idea

I reimagined MUJI’s wire mesh basket and storage box as a dabba-carrying solution, inspired by Mumbai’s dabbawalas. The concept shows how minimal, well-designed products naturally fit into local jugaad systems and keep a fast-moving city organised.
